A strange incident occurred during a study by scientists near the island of Maui, Hawaii. They saw same-sex love between male humpback whales.
Off the coast of Maui, two photographers recorded humpback whales mating. This was reported by Science Alert.
However, the photos raised new questions for scientists about the sexual behavior of these animals. After all, both whales are adult males.
Scientists say that one of the whales they saw looked evil. He was emaciated, covered in lice, and had extensive trauma to his lower jaw, possibly from a ship collision.
The second one seems to be in great physical shape. It repeatedly swam to the sick companion, held it in place with its pectoral fins, and repeatedly entered the genital cleft – the opening where the genitalia normally hides.
Scientists suggest that one reason for this behavior may be to strengthen the social bond with a sick friend. But there are also fewer explanations. The second whale may be trying to prove its dominance over the weaker male or show itself to be bigger and stronger than him.

It was previously reported that in Antarctica, Ukrainian scientists from the Academician Vernadsky station began using drones to study humpback whales.
