The photos were taken after the vehicle separated from SpaceX’s launch vehicle. The device carries six NASA payloads.
The American robotic lunar probe Odysseus, which is on its way to the Moon to land on its surface, has sent the first images taken into space. They are published on the social network X.
In particular, the device from Intuitive Machines took a selfie against the backdrop of our planet.
“The images were taken shortly after separation from the second stage of the SpaceX rocket on Intuitive Machines’ first trip to the Moon as part of NASA’s CLPS initiative,” the statement said.
It is known that on February 15, SpaceX launched the Odysseus landing module into space using a Falcon 9 rocket. The launch took place as part of the second attempt of the Artemis Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, which aims to deliver satellite payloads to private lunar landers.
The IM-1 Odyssey mission is scheduled to deliver six NASA payloads to the Moon. Another six shipments will be delivered by various private customers.
The landing is tentatively scheduled for February 22.
