The spatial location and the burial environment itself are very similar to the customs of the Western Baltic tribes.

Archaeologists during excavations in Ukraine discovered an ancient cemetery with human remains. Arkeonews writes about it.

An unusual find was discovered in the Kyiv region. The remains of men are preserved along with axes, spears and swords. The remains of women with bronze neck rings were discovered in the grave.

The age of the ancient cemetery is estimated to be more than ten centuries. In all probability, it appeared in the 11th century.

“Remains of funeral offerings were found in graves and in wooden buckets at the feet of some of the dead. Some people were buried with very valuable items, including slate spindles, jewelry such as of bronze neck rings and bracelets, brooches, pennular brooches, cowrie shells, as well as weapons such as battle axes, knives and spearheads. The orientation and environment of the burial is very reminiscent of the customs of the tribe of the Western Baltic,” the material says.

A stone altar was discovered on the territory of the cemetery, which may have been used for Christian or pagan rituals.
