Doctors from Lviv Okhmatdyt developed a new eardrum for a 9-year-old boy from the Khmelnitsky region. Representatives of the Children’s Medicine Center at Okhmatdyt Hospital reported this on Facebook.
As the head of the Head and Neck Clinic, Fyodor Yurochko, said, the child’s eardrum softened, shrank, deepened and grew to the bone almost everywhere.
“This eardrum needs to be separated, removed and a new one built. This is a procedure for the complete reconstruction of the eardrum. It is a very complicated procedure. Thanks to the tips of Professor Andrzej Krzyzaniak, we were able to do it,” said the doctor.
According to the boy’s mother, when her son was in kindergarten, plasticine got into his ear.
“During the examination, we found a foreign object in the eardrum and in the tympanic cavity – plasticine. So we have been treating it since then. Artem has already undergone four operations. Now we expect another one,” added the mother .
