The prize was awarded “for experimental methods for generating attosecond light pulses to study the dynamics of electrons in atoms.”
The 2023 Nobel Prize winners in physics have been announced. They were scientists who conducted research on the dynamics of electrons in atoms – Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Hullier. This is stated on the website of the Nobel Committee.
Physicists are known for creating very short pulses of light that can be used to measure fast processes involving the movement of electrons.
As you know, in 2022 the Nobel Prize in this category was awarded to the French scientist Alain Aspe, the American physicist John Clauser and the Austrian scientist Anton Zeilinger for their research in quantum mechanics. The prize was then awarded for “experiments with entangled photons, research into violations of Bell’s inequality, and work in quantum information science.”
In 2021, the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Giorgio Parisi for his discovery of the interaction between disorders and fluctuations in physical systems. The winners were Klaus Hasselmann and Syukuro Manabe. They are recognized for their physical modeling of the Earth’s climate.
We remind you that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny are the favorites among the 351 nominees for the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize.
