India has become the first country in the world to successfully land a spacecraft near the Moon’s South Pole.
lander Vikram from the mission Chandrayan-3 first measured the temperature at the moon’s south pole. Space reported it.
It was noted that after the landing on August 23 Chandrayan-3 worked hard: rover launched Prague to explore the cratered surface, built-in cameras were used to send video recordings of the environment, and even began to carry out research tasks and all mission instruments were working properly.
Later, ISRO spoke about the successful operation of another ChaSTE mission instrument.
The purpose of this experiment, essentially, was to use a temperature probe as well as ten separate temperature sensors to measure the soil temperature profiles of the Moon’s south pole.
As explained by ISRO, it is for ChaSTE to help scientists understand the thermal behavior of the Moon’s surface. And, apparently, someone already knows.
During the experiment, the instrument measured the surface temperature of the Earth’s satellite at various depths, which was the first profile for the moon’s south pole.
According to the graph, the temperature ranges from -10 degrees at a depth of 80 mm to 50 degrees at the surface. Detailed observations in this direction, as the agency notes, are still ongoing.

As for the moon rover Prague, then he stumbles into a dangerous crater. But this event did not surprise the researchers, because there are many such craters in the region, so it is very difficult to make a soft landing.

It was earlier reported that the first pictures of the Indian mission have surfaced Chandrayan-3, taken after the probe’s historic landing on the moon.
