It is hoped that the reconstruction will shed light on what happened to the liner, the researchers said.
Experts have created the first full-size 3D reconstruction of the sunken Titaniclying at a depth of 3800 m in the Atlantic Ocean. The BBC reported it.
The scan was carried out in the summer of 2022 by deep sea mapping company Magellan Ltd and Atlantic Productions who are making a documentary about the project.
The submersibles, remotely controlled by a team aboard a specialized vessel, spent more than 200 hours exploring the length and breadth of the wreck. They took over 700,000 shots from all angles, creating a precise 3D reconstruction.
The photos show the wreckage in detail, including rust on the ship’s bow, a serial number on the propeller, and a hole where the front staircase once stood.
The surrounding debris field is littered with objects, including structures from the ship, statues, and unopened champagne bottles. There are also personal belongings of liner passengers.
Earlier it was reported that ocean explorers were filming the first video of a sunken ship. Titanicwhich sank to the ocean floor in 1912.
