Astrophotographers capture a picture of a hybrid solar eclipse

In the new image, the solar corona is especially strong, showing an increase in solar activity as the sun approaches the peak of its 11-year cycle.

A team of astrophotographers captured a spectacular image of the recent hybrid solar eclipse visible in the Australian sky last month. Space reported it.

The image mostly shows the ghostly filaments of the solar corona, but a faint glimpse of a burst of magnetized plasma known as a coronal mass ejection can be seen.

It is known that the blackout is called a hybrid because it consists of two separate blackouts that happened at the same time on April 20. It is a total solar eclipse – a short-lived but total eclipse of the Sun – and an annular solar eclipse: a longer but incomplete eclipse.

Although the eclipses occur at the same time, most observers will only be able to see one of them depending on their location. A total solar eclipse can only be seen by perfectly aligned Moon and Sun. Most people will see an annular blackout. This is the first hybrid eclipse in ten years.

According to experts, the new photo is a compilation of hundreds of photos taken by Czech astrophotographers. The combined image showed the peak of the total solar eclipse, known as totality, which lasted about one minute and was the only time the entire solar corona was seen.

It was previously reported that hybrid solar eclipses are extremely rare occurrences and can only be observed in a few places on the earth’s surface.
