Russian spies use dating apps like Tinder reach out to politicians and soldiers in Germany in order to obtain information about the strategic goals in Ukraine.
German newspaper Welt am Sonntag Russian agents were reported to be using Tinder contact German politicians and members of the Bundeswehr, Germany’s armed forces.
The German counterintelligence service, known by its acronym MAD, has exposed this Russian strategy.
“Members of the (Russian) intelligence services are using social media to specifically make contact with members of the Bundeswehr to try to gather information and possibly recruit them,” MAD explained. Welt am Sonntag.
This report was shared at a meeting of the alliance of countries NATOthe newspaper said.

Germany is one of the main allies Ukrainewith thousands of Ukrainian troops training in a European powerhouse, so the Russian strategy is not surprising.
In Russia, the government requires from 2019 Tinder provide information from the application to local intelligence agencies.
February 2022 Australia warned of the use of dating apps by foreign spies to try to gather intelligence from citizens with access to sensitive information.
