Czech automaker Skoda sets out to develop new technologies. The goal is to make the roads safer for children, the elderly and people with disabilities. The Daily Mail writes about it.
The company does it with the help of a robot. He accompanies people when crossing the road.
The device is more than two meters high. It looks like a mobile traffic light going into the middle of the pedestrian crossing. And once the robot reaches the spot, it lights up with a green light. This allows pedestrians to cross the road safely.
“The electronic assistant continuously monitors its surroundings, so it can detect that a vehicle is approaching the crossing. With sensors located at a height of two meters, it can see the space above the parked cars. Then it enters on the road when it finds it safe. The robot displays both information for pedestrians and warnings for approaching vehicles – it shows drivers a stop sign. It also sends a message to the vehicle itself, which is shown as an animation on the infotainment display,” the company said.
Interestingly, as soon as pedestrians cross the road, the robot returns to the sidewalk. And when it reaches the curb, the warning on the car’s dashboard disappears.
Remember that earlier in Britain they developed the HB1 robot, which can move walls.
