It is thought that the mummified remains were left at this site in honor of Ramses II about 1000 years after his death. It is believed that sheep and other animals were used as offerings during worship at Abydus during the Bipid era.
In addition, the archaeological team also unearthed a “huge building” with walls about five meters thick, which was built in the 6th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. The building contains statues, remains of trees, leather shoes, clothes and papyri.
