senators USA are preparing to introduce a bill giving the Joe Biden government the power to ban foreign technology products such as tik tak.
Mark Warner and John Thune are preparing to introduce legislation this week, presumably on Tuesday. What issues does this text address?
Prohibit Tiktok at all costs
According to Warner, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, tik tak would be “one of the potential targets” for consideration under the bill.
In their statements to foxnewsreports that he was concerned that tik tak “could be a propaganda tool” depending on the types of videos users watch.
In his opinion, this power, given to the president, can ensure that there is an “emergency button” to ban foreign technology if necessary.
Details of the proposed bill have yet to be released.
Some sympathy
The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee recently voted to give President Joe Biden the power to ban tik tak in the country.
The bill does not specify exactly how the ban will work, but gives Biden the right to ban any transactions with tik takwhich in turn may prevent anyone in the United States from accessing or downloading the app on their phones.
tik tak has come under increasing criticism in recent weeks over fears that user data could end up in the hands of the Chinese government, undermining Western security interests.
The bill would also require Biden to ban any organization that “may” share sensitive personal data with a Chinese-influenced organization.
