When Honor announced the new products that it planned to present at MWC 2023, we had a clear strategy: to release a high-quality phone and a foldable smartphone at the same time every year. Simultaneously with the global presentation of Magic Vs, the former Huawei sub-brand decided to erase the stigma and present the public with the highest point of its development: this new magic 5 pro.

Honor Magic 5 Pro: safe succession

In almost every aspect, the hardware is a healthy continuation of the 2022 Magic 4 Pro concept, although details have been adjusted and some conditions cut to leave us with more mature hardware and enough rudiments to improve upon what was seen in the previous model.

To begin with, we are faced with a 6.81-inch panel that extends on its four curved edges that run towards the aluminum and create a sense of depth on the screen when viewing content. This panel, by the way, works hand in hand with a discrete chip that improves image quality without consuming the power of the main processor.

If we take the Magic 4 Pro as a reference, the case back softens the transition between the body and the lens arrangement, bringing a little more focus to the new matte glass version of the muse’s eye.

This 2023 edition changes some details of the previous model. While we maintain a similar figure for the main lens and UGA, the phone drops from 64MP to 50MP, assigning a Sony IMX 858 sensor for better detail when using 100X. In addition, a new image processing engine has been added for more complex and long shots. For this, Honor calls it Falcon Capture and AI Motion Sensing Capture.

Other sensors are added to this camera system to complement the operation of the main sensors. We now have a dToF depth sensor, a multispectral color temperature meter, and a light flicker sensor. Camera selfie repeats last year’s formula with a wide-angle sensor and 3D system.

Honor Magic 5 Pro: power and autonomy

As announced in November 2022, Qualcomm is Honor’s partner in this venture and we are moving to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. This integration guarantees the inclusion of WiFi 7 and 5G support in both SIM slots, but leaves us with only Bluetooth 5.2.

Just as cameras change, so does autonomy. While the battery increases the capacity from 4600 to 5100 mAh, it reduces the charging speed from 100W to 66W and the wireless charging speed from 100W to 50W.

Honor Magic 5 Po: availability and price

Sources from Honor Peru told NIUSGEEK that this mobile phone will be available in blue and black and will arrive in our country before the second quarter of 2023, both by operators and through e-commerce.
