Huawei knows it’s getting stronger in the market peripherals, and his bold statements at MWC 2023 are nothing more than support for that course. The Chinese brand has announced two new smartwatches running Harmony OS, but one of them aims to revolutionize the high-stakes wearables segment: plugging headphones into the watch.
IN Barcelona, Huawei officially unveiled its “Watch Buds” line, a smartwatch that allows you to place and charge your earphones under a round screen, with a two-in-one strategy that makes pairing and portability easier.
According to Huawei, “This is the industry’s first smartwatch with a magnetic pop-up cover and built-in earphones, and it has a very meticulous overall architecture that blurs the lines between TWS earphones and smartwatches.”
Huawei Watch Buds, what you need to know

Before us is a device that inherits the design lines that we have seen in other versions of Huawei. To the right of the polished aluminosilicate edge is an interactive crown for HarmonyOS that extends across the entire 1.43-inch AMOLED panel.
The chassis is not an improvisation. We are talking about 21 neat layers, which includes, in addition to headphones, photoelectric sensors for measuring physical activity, a rotating axis, an internal charging system, a battery and a magnetic mount a little less than one and a half centimeters. Yes, for a watch this is a terrible thickness. But this is a watch that integrates hearing aids.

If this is a twitch abuse, get ready to see what headphones are all about. Made from 20 different components, these buds are 50% smaller than traditional TWS and take up 90% less space thanks to a weight of 4 grams per unit.
See with hearing aids How did Huawei achieve this?
The screen, which in turn does the work of the lid, has a closing mechanism rated for 100,000 uses and capable of supporting weights up to 5 kg. The mechanism is activated by pushing the screen inward, so that the safety is released and the rotating axle can free up space for placement. All this meticulousness is complemented by a secure magnetic system that secures the TWS to the case and to the corresponding charging rings.
Note that the design of the TWS is identical, so you won’t be able to tell which is L and which is R. Solution? Huawei automatically corrects this by adaptively saving hearing aids. If you store TWS on the right side, it becomes R regardless of whether it was originally L. Along with this, the buds adjust the signal based on the user’s additive channel, adapting the output to the ear.

All this is possible without losing the tactile part for interaction, in addition to incorporating the same health monitoring solutions in the sports identification watch itself. The only problem, according to the specs, is the little autonomy we’ll have compared to other monsters from Huawei’s own catalog: up to 3 days of battery life at the top with earphone charging, and up to 7 days with power saving activated.
Huawei Watch Buds, price and availability
According to Huawei Peru sources, this equipment will be available until the second third of 2023. Prior to the publication of the note, the price in salts for the local market was not indicated.
