The new technology may appear in the future vehicles of the concern and keep the touch screens clean.
General Motors has developed technology that allows touchscreen displays to clean themselves from fingerprints. It was reported by Car and Driver.
It is noted that the patent has already been filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
The system works by using a photocatalytic coating and violet light to remove oil residue, fingerprints and other dirt from the display.
“The LED matrix touch screen emits visible red, green and blue light. The violet light in the proposed self-cleaning unit is an invisible fourth LED that reacts to the photocatalyst in the transparent coating along with air moisture to clean the glass surface,” the patent notes.
It is also known that the technology can be turned on manually or automatically. It depends on the amount of sunlight or other circumstances.
Recall that earlier Lenovo presented a laptop that could slide out vertically, providing more workspace for the user.
