The discovery belongs to a group of scientists from the University of Paris. It is said to help diagnose cancer.

Researchers have discovered that ants have a unique ability to detect the smell of cancer in human urine. Sky News reported this.

In particular, some types of cancer change the smell of urine.

“For the study, the scientists used 70 ants and the urine of mice with and without cancerous tumors. After three tests, the insects identified the odor of the urine of healthy mice from those sick,” experts say.

According to them, this ability in insects is explained by the sensitive olfactory system of the ant.

It is emphasized that human receptors do not detect the smell of cancer in the urine.

Recall that the early Russian scientists of St. Petersburg State University found the remains of the most ancient ant of the genus Manica. They were found in Baltic amber.
