It is capable of making accurate forecasts of ocean currents up to seven months in advance.

Chinese scientists from the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology have created an AI-based inversion and prediction system for the Indonesian throughflow. This was reported by Xinhua news agency.

The study used satellite data and models and the height of the sea surface between the Indian and Pacific Ocean basins.

Scientists fed satellite data from 1993 to 2021 into the system to recreate it for that period.

“The results are completely consistent with internationally recognized field observation data. Meanwhile, the artificial intelligence system can also make reliable forecasts seven months in advance,” experts said.

Recall that early British scientists from Sonantic demonstrated a unique artificial intelligence that could flirt and express their feelings.
