PC games typically required an average of 8GB of RAM to run smoothly, with 16GB just for Ultra settings or no compromise in graphics quality.

Times have changed, however, and new video games in 2023 are ending that minimum and setting a new standard: 16GB for minimum and 32GB for higher quality.

Specific cases

During 2022 video game returnable announced that he would PC after its exclusive premiere for prefix 5.

The game, however, surprised because it required configurations with 32 GB as the standard for high quality.

The news was startling, but passed as a joke at the time because it would be a port of a high-tech console like PS5. But the problem continues.

Now forgotten one that gets into the media because in its PS5 launch and PC at a time you are asking for 16 GB RAM at least play in 720p, the quality is average. To play at 1080p you are asking for 24GB. RAM and 32 GB for ultra quality.

And not every installation needs this high level to work. In medium performance, the game also requires a processor AMD Ryzen 5 1600video card NVIDIA GTX 1060 (we’re already in generation 40) and only 150 GB of hard drive space.

PS4 games still asking for 8 GB

Titles released a few months ago, like god of War or own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IIeven though they were recent they were asking for 8 GB RAM for normal qualities in PC. Both were released for PS4.

It looks like the future of PS5 games that will also reach PC They will have the standard 16GB, so if you’re a gamer, it’s best to consider increasing the setting to accommodate those specs.
