Starlink satellites will now be deployed in new orbits, further increasing network capacity.

On Wednesday, December 28, American billionaire Elon Musk’s company SpaceX launched the first batch of second-generation Starlink Internet system satellites into space. Space.com reported it.

Specifically, the Falcon 9 launch vehicle with 54 upgraded satellites launched from the Cape Canaveral spaceport at 4:30 eastern coastal time (11:30 Kyiv time).

Not only are Gen2 satellites capable of handling more traffic, but they can stream services directly to smartphones, according to the SpaceX founder.

It is known that on December 1, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) gave permission to SpaceX to deploy 7,500 second-generation satellites. However, this was only a partial approval, as the company applied to the FCC for permission to send nearly 30,000 of these satellites into low Earth orbit.

It was previously reported that SpaceX successfully launched the Falcon 9 launch vehicle, launching the European communications satellite Eutelsat 10B into orbit.
