Elvia Barrios, President of the Judiciary, welcomed the fact that an OAS mission is already in Lima to meet with national politicians and government agencies; however, he believed that it was not necessary to convene this organization.
“From my point of view, it was not necessary, but it’s good that they are here, because I believe that the interview will be fruitful, we are like Power of attorney what we are going to do is simply, objectively and clearly present what we have done as an institution, what our competencies are, and history indicates the path we have been following all this time,” he said in the program. Panorama.
Elvia Barrios criticized that the President Pedro Castillo question the work Power of attorney in the middle of the president’s investigations.
“You read eleven pages of a petition (pre-OAS) and none of them refer to Power of attorney nor the relationship of the institution to the executive branch and his family; However, when the president addresses the nation, he is attributing behavior to us that we must renounce,” he said.
On the other hand, he recalled that several times he asked President Castillo to convene the Council of State, but that he did not respond to his request.
“We have asked countless times: “Listen, President, convene the State Council,” in writing, through the media, at official meetings at which we meet,” he stressed.
Barrios argued that the real situation is extremely contradictory between Congress and the government, through them they became the central and articulating force defending judicial independence against all attacks from whatever source.
Representative of the OAS mission arrived on Peruvian soil
Eladio Loizaga, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay and representative of the OAS mission in Peru, arrived in our country, thus becoming the first member of a diplomatic delegation on Peruvian soil.
On a flight from his country of origin, Loizaga arrived at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Callao around 9:30 am.
Losaiga confirmed in a video the mission’s readiness to listen to the “government and opposition” on the days they stay in the city.
“We are going to listen to the executive, legislative and judicial authorities in their various representations. We will listen to the government and the opposition. We are going to listen to representatives of religion, trade unions, business, professionals and civil society,” he said.
