The OAS High Level Panel (GAN-OEA) began its meetings today, Monday, with representatives of the three branches of government and civil society. The first took place in the morning with President Pedro Castillo at the Government Palace.
After this meeting, the diplomatic mission will meet with the Chairman of the Parliament, Joseph Williams. However, as confirmed GAN-OASindividual meetings with representatives of various judges are also scheduled Congress.
Optional benches
It should be recalled that in recent days, various parliamentarians have expressed interest in holding meetings with a diplomatic delegation, for which they sent official letters requesting such meetings. So far, the mission has confirmed meetings with 10 benches Congress.
These meetings will start Today, Monday, at 19:00, on the premises of the Swissôtel hotel located in the San Isidro area. From now on, GAN-OEA will receive benches: Democratic Peru, Peru Bicentennial, Democratic Change – Together for Peru, Podemos Peru, Master’s Block, Popular Action, Integrity and DevelopmentY Free Peru.
The meetings were confirmed to the representatives of these parliamentary groups in an official letter sent on 16 November.
“GAN-OAS wants to be able to accommodate as many requests for meetings as possible with the various sectors of national affairs in Peru, be it government agencies, political parties, civil society organizations and other relevant actors in the country,” said the mission in the profession.
He also indicated that “the time available is limited”, for this reason he requested that each group “nominate a representative to speak”, that “the delegation may not exceed three members from each parliamentary group” and that each delegation “be present with the documentation that he deems appropriate for transfer to the GAN OAS.”
On the other hand, in an official letter dated November 17, the diplomatic delegation confirmed the meeting with a representative of the Fujimori Judiciary, Patricia Juarez. The said meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8:00. at Swissôtel facilities.
Similarly, on the same day, but one hour later, the GAN-OAS will host the Alliance for Progress (APP) Bench Representative, Alejandro Soto.
OAS Delegation Promises Impartiality
Eladio Loizaga, the former Foreign Minister of Paraguay and a member of the delegation was the first member of this group to arrive in our country yesterday, Sunday, on a flight from his country of origin.
In brief press statements, the Guarani diplomat pointed to a predisposition OAS mission “Meet everyone.”
“We are going to meet everyone,” he said, when asked about a possible meeting with National AttorneyPatricia Benavidez.
Likewise, in a video released last Saturday, a GAN-OAS spokesman stressed the mission’s willingness to listen to “the government and the opposition.”
“Let’s listen to the forces Executive, Legislative D Judicial in several of his performances. We will listen to the government and the opposition. We are going to listen to representatives of religion, trade unions, business, professionals and civil society,” he said.
However, he added that they might not be able to “hear everyone”. It is worth remembering that the delegation will remain in our country only tomorrow, on Monday and Tuesday.
“We know in advance that we will not be able to listen to everyone, but we have a strong intention to collect as many votes as possible, and for this reason we will turn on the appropriate channels so that those whom we cannot see in person can send us their points vision in writing,” he said.
He also emphasized that they are aware of the “great expectations” that the announcement of his arrival caused.
“We know that our visit has raised great hopes in Peru that any gesture we make or any word we say will be interpreted by someone as a position taken by the group in one sense or another. Nothing is further from reality,” he said.
