The State Department held a series of proceedings at the office of Culture Minister Betsy Chavez in Congress and at the headquarters of the Organization for the Formalization of Informal Property – Cofopri on Monday, November 14th. During the intervention, it turned out that the sister of Abel Sotelo was hired, with whom he has a romantic relationship. Assuming this position, Sotelo Calderon moved to Cofopri Tacna, an organization under the Ministry of Housing. “His hiring was under strong pressure at the time from the chief of staff, Salatiel Marrufo,” said Jorge Quevedo, former national director of the said institution.
Betsy Chavez Preliminary Investigation
Knowing this information, the public ministry decided to launch a preliminary investigation against Minkul head Betsy Chavez for the alleged offenses of inconsistent negotiation or abuse of power and aggravated influence peddling.
National Attorney Patricia Benavidezset a period of 60 days for an investigation, in which Abel Sotelo is also involved, and ordered the appropriate procedures to be carried out.
