The third vice president of the Congress Board of Directors, Alejandro Munante, referred to Prime Minister Aníbal Torres’ announcement of resubmitting a vote of confidence to parliament. With this in mind, also a member of the People’s Renewal Bench indicated that the Legislative Assembly had already made a decision on this issue and that they do not need to continue to do so, since they are the owners of the house.
“We categorically rule out that this trust issue you want to present has a legal or constitutional basis to support it. For this reason, the response of the President of the Congress was insistent insofar as the Prime Minister was informed of the vices of unconstitutionality and illegality that this presentation has as a matter of credibility. However, we saw perseverance on the part of the prime minister. We already talked about this. We don’t have to keep speaking out because we are homeowners. We are the ones who determine the laws in the country. We have the sole and exclusive power to process legislative initiatives,” he said in a Air Rotaryfrom PTR.
Munante added that if, despite the refusal of the Congress, Torres insists on his participation in the plenary session, Parliament will have to get it and then make a decision.
“We have already responded as Congress. If, despite this, the prime minister comes to the next plenary meeting, introduces himself and wants to raise the question of confidence, I think he can do it. Other cases have already been seen because the Minister has the prerogative to have a vote in Congress, but does not have the right to vote. If, in spite of all this, the Prime Minister wants to come to Congress informally and raise the question of confidence, I believe that there will be no serious obstacles in the face of this.but we as a board of directors would have to resolve the inadmissibility immediately,” he added.
Finally, he considered this request for confidence to be a response to a show that Munante said Torres intended to put on but which, however, he was unable to pull off.
“They insist because today they dreamed of a scenario where the prime minister makes his way through the crowd, arrives in Congress, raises a question of confidence, goes out and receives applause from his entourage. And then this pop bath was given. It hasn’t happened and won’t happen, and I think that’s why the peak exists.”, He finished.
