the president Peter’s castle requested permission from the Congress of the Republic to leave the country from 14 to 21 November to attend the 29th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and related events in Bangkok, Thailand.
The request was made through a draft legislative resolution submitted to Parliament.
The document is accompanied by an official letter addressed to the head of the Legislative Assembly, Joseph Williams Zapatawhich details that major challenges for the Asia-Pacific region, such as the global economic recession, supply chain disruptions, food and energy security, will be addressed at the APEC Leaders’ Meeting (November 18-19).
In addition, the President plans to take part in APEC Business SummitNovember 17, and meet with business associations from the Asia-Pacific region to present the opportunities offered by Peru for investment.
Similarly, bilateral meetings are held with the participation of heads of state and government.
“The participation of the Peruvian government at the highest level in these international meetings will allow our country to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and its economic integration mechanisms,” the document says.
He also emphasizes that all this will contribute to the process of preparation for the Peruvian chairmanship of APEC in 2024.
