Sucel Paredes justifies the election promotion project: “This crisis belongs to the President and Congress”

Congressman Susel Paredes, caucus member Honesty and developmentpointed out that his draft law on the promotion of elections aims to reduce the presidential and legislative mandates by two years.

“My suggestion is to change Constitution including a fourth special transitional provision that reduces the mandate. Congress appoints not elections, but the president. He argued that the crisis “came from 2016” because “we had 6 presidents in 4 years, 7 interior ministers and 5 commanders in 1 year and 11 days without a health minister in the middle of the third wave.”

“The President of the Republic, elected in elections where the people express their will, has chosen lousy ministers. The President did everything very badly, but Congress too,” the parliamentarian added on RPP TV.

In this context, he criticized the oversight role of Congress. “We had 68 ministers, how many did we censor? Only 4 (…) there are people who tear their clothes, talking about the vacancy, when Congress also bears responsibility,” the deputy said on RPP TV.

Election promotion

In this sense, he indicated that he wants his draft to be discussed by the Constitutional Commission. He criticized the “right” opposition for demanding the president’s resignation but “no self-criticism” about the leadership in parliament, citing the cases of Vilmar Elera and Freddy Diaz as examples.
