A Missouri lawmaker on Thursday strongly condemned one of its Republican counterparts for attempting to flee transgender athletes from youth sports.
State Representative Ian McKee (D), who is gay, sent an emotional message to State Representative Chuck Bayes (R) during the hearing on Baye’s proposed proposal to allow school districts to vote to ban transgender athlete.
Mackey encouraged Bays to consider a relationship with his brother, who is also gay.
“Your brother wants to say he’s gay, right?” Mackie insisted to Base, who replied that yes, his brother “thought we would do it against him and not let my kids stand next to him” – even if that wasn’t the case, Bass said.
“Can I tell you, if I were your brother, would I be afraid to tell you?” Mackie replied. “I’m also afraid to talk to you about that, because that’s what you’re focusing on. This is the law you want to introduce. This is how your time passes. I’m also afraid to tell you. I’m afraid to raise people like you. “
Mackie said the school district where he grew up in Missouri’s Hickory County “will vote tomorrow” to enforce such a ban. The state legislature represents parts of St. Louis. Louis County.
“Thank God I could do that,” he said. “I think every day the guys who are still there, they can’t keep up with those who don’t avoid this kind of fanaticism”.
Footage of his statements garnered hundreds of thousands of views on social media yesterday.
“Gentlemen, I am no longer afraid of you, because you are already losing,” Mackie said to colleagues who supported the change, who raised their voices. “You can win now, but you will lose”.
Basis called Mackie “screaming out loud” and said the switch was “no [faze] I was in a letter to HuffPost:
Rep. Mackie shouted out loud. He is campaigning for the Missouri House of Representatives. He was worried about his re-election and his rhetoric during the debate had absolutely nothing to do with the amendment I propose to House Bill 2140th. Within 3 hours of debate, radical Democrats attacked my character and made many defamatory accusations! I didn’t care, then I went home, drank a delicious glass of Maker’s 46 Bourbon, then lay down and slept like a baby !!
Basye’s amendment was finally approved, 89-40, after nearly three hours of debate.
Jet from Dozens of State Laws now enacted prohibit transgender students from playing sports. Several states have implemented them this year.
