congresswoman flower floor announced Tuesday that it has filed a multi-party constitutional complaint against MP Freddy Diaz, who is accused of raping a worker in his office.
“Violence against women is unacceptable. We have filed a multi-party constitutional complaint against Freddie Diaz asking for his immunity and disqualification,” the parliamentarian wrote on her Twitter account, along with a document confirming her information.
flower floor She’s not the only one signing this complaint against Freddie Diaz. The document is also supported by his colleagues Edward Malaga Trilo, Sucel Paredes, Kira Alcarraz, Ruth Luque and Adriana Tudela. The Purple Party MP hopes more congressmen will join the motion.
“We ask that this constitutional complaint be declared admissible and that a constitutional charge be brought against Articles 39 and Articles 1; 2.1; and 2.24 h) of the Constitution v. Congressman Freddie Diaz Monago and determine his disqualification for 10 years of suspension from public office without prejudice to other criminal and ethical obligations,” the document says.
On July 27, a congressional official convicted MP Freddy Diaz Monago of rape. According to the victim, she was in a state of intoxication when the legislator took advantage of this to allegedly commit an attack.
As you remember, congresswoman Patricia Chirinos (Avanza País) was the first to file a constitutional complaint last week against Freddy Diaz, against whom he demanded his removal from office and disqualification from public office for ten years.
Ethics Commission to prepare final report
The Ethics Commission has declared an ex officio complaint against MP Freddy Diaz for an alleged violation of the permissible, in connection with which an investigation process has been initiated to confirm what an employee of his office reported.
Karol Paredes, president of said commission, told the RPP that a joint hearing would take place on August 22, with a final report due on August 31 at 9 am. Although this document will be ready almost a month after the worker filed a complaint, the legislator assured that they are giving “full speed to the cause.”
“It sets a good precedent because you can’t approve of situations that not only hurt Congress, but might hurt some people. We need to work hard in the weeks we have left. We were going to submit the final report on the 26th, but we are doing it on the 31st because congressmen will have a week of representation,” he said.
