The Ministry of Defense (Mindef) denied this Sunday that the participation ex-Commando Chavin de Huantar at the Grand Parade and the Military Parade, held on July 29 on the occasion of national holidays, at the General Headquarters of the Army, in the San Borja area of Lima.
Through a statement Mindef explained that in the context of the pandemic and taking into account the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, the army decided that these activities will be carried out only with the participation of active personnel (Navy, Air Force, Army, National Police and Disaster Risk Units), as announced in Communiqué No. 12 / EP of July 27th.
“Based on this argument, the Ministry of Defense rejects any version of alleged interference in the organization of the Big Parade and the Military Parade or participation ex-Commando Chavin de Huantar. The Armed Forces are not subject to political decisions and act in accordance with the mandate of the Constitution,” the document says.
Mindef regrets being labeled a ‘usurper’
The Ministry of Defense complained that new generations Commando Chavin de Huantar they are cataloged as “usurpers” and must be kept to a minimum by “questioning their training and excellence” in order to act in any adverse situation.
The conclusion notes that “Ministry of Defence and organizations associated with it respect and treasure the memory of all their fallen, whether in the context of war or those who participated in laudable causes.”
