Legislator Maria del Carmen Alva approved agreement no. 110-2021-2022/MESA-CR in her capacity as President of the Congress to establish that members Board of Directors continue to receive benefits for six months after leaving office.
Benefits include an additional National Police NCO per shift. Additional non-commissioned officers, as well as police officers appointed as parliamentarians, will have the same benefits as those serving Board of Directorsin accordance with the agreement.

The agreement states that since 2009 benefits have been approved for members of the Board of Directors at the end of their term of office. In previous administrations of presidents or presidents of Congress, the continuity of this type of agreement has been criticized.
Legislators will win Maria del Carmen Alva Prieto, as President of Congress; Lady Camones Soriano as First Vice President; Enrique Wong Pujada as Second Vice President; and Patricia Chirinos Venegas as Third Vice President.
In a formal letter addressed to Alva, the first president of the Congress, Lady Camones, refused these benefits “because she did not consider it necessary for me personally.”
New members of the Board of Directors will be elected in the coming days.
