Congress approved a final report recommending that Pedro Castillo be constitutionally charged in the Sarratea case.

At the plenary session of the Congress, by 72 votes to 40, with 0 abstentions, the final report of the Congress was adopted. The Sarathea case in which the President Peter’s castle in alleged acts of corruption, and this was approved by the Oversight Commission at the end of June.

The work carried out by the Supervisory Commission provides recommendations on the results of investigations into alleged illegal acts committed by the President, ministers and persons from the presidential entourage in the cases entitled “Casa Sarratea and SBN”, “Puente Tarata III” and “Interference with promotion in the Armed forces”, “Interference in the affairs of Superintendent Sunat” and “Discovery of 20 thousand dollars in the Government Palace”.

In the final report The Sarathea case recommended to impeach the president constitutionally Peter’s castle for alleged involvement in a criminal organization, incompatible negotiations and improper use of his official position.

According to the document, President Pedro Castillo, former Secretary General of the Office of the President Bruno Pacheco, former Minister Juan Silva and businessmen Zamir Villaverde and Karelim López “were involved in coordinating the results” of tenders by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTS).

The report also concludes that the businessmen belonging to the Consortium Puente Tarata III, the winner of the work for S/. 232.5 million, they would give money to the head of state through the lobbyist Karelim Lopez.

Three days before the approval of the report, last Monday, June 27, members of the parliamentary working group went to the Palace to meet with President Pedro Castillo, but for the fourth time they were not received by the president, despite the fact that he agreed to a meeting of Explanations on this occasion the president never did.

Prosecutors Blame President for Alleged Leadership of Criminal Organization

Since yesterday, the Attorney General of the Nation, Patricia Benavidez, has engaged President Pedro Castillo in an investigation into alleged promotions of military and national police officers, and according to the fiscal dossier, the president is credited with leading the alleged perpetrator organization that interfered in this illegal process, El Comercio reported.

The State Ministry was already investigating former minister Walter Ayala and former secretary-general of the presidential administration Bruno Pacheco, as well as several high-ranking officials, in this case.

Castillo, Pacheco and Ayala requested promotions irregularly for officers Ciro Bocanegra Loays and Carlos Sánchez Cauancam (Army); Edgar Bricegno Carnero, Carlos Castillo Ruiz and Helber Wilka Vargas (Air Force) and Manuel Rivera López and Nicacio Zapata Suclupe (PNP). This is according to the thesis of the prosecutors.
