The Congress of the Republic approved the censorship of Interior Minister Dimitri Senmash.

Plenary session Congress of the Republicapproved this Thursday afternoon for the censorship of Interior Minister Dmitry Senmashe due to the lack of managerial capabilities that would lead to the escape of the former Minister of Transport and Communications, John Silvaformer Secretary of the Office of the President, Bruno Pacheco and Fray Vasquez, nephew of the President Peter’s castle.

With 78 votes in favour, 29 against and 8 abstentions, the Legislative Assembly approved a vote of no confidence presented last Thursday, June 27, by a deputy. People’s Power with the support of People’s Renewal, Country Success D Alliance for Progress.

Legislators began debate shortly before 4:30 p.m. on a proposal in which the leadership Dmitry Senmashe for those killed during the clashes in the city of Atico, Arequipa.

One of the first to speak Jorge Marticorena (Perú Bicentenario), who believed that an investigation should be carried out to determine who was responsible for the escape of Juan Silva, and said that blaming Minister Dimitri Senmache was becoming a speculation.

For his part, MP Alexander Cavero (Avansa Pais) argued that the Minister of the Interior should be politically responsible; however, he cautioned that this sanction should not be confused with the possibility of assessing a criminal sanction in the Subcommittee on Constitutional Charges.

Susel Paredes (Purple Party) in turn recalled that she had already warned about violations in the management of Juan Silva, to which she stated that she was one of the first interested in his capture. He pointed out that it is not known who allowed the ex-minister to escape, and although the career of Minister Dmitry Senmashe is “impeccable”, he cannot avoid political responsibility for this fact.

legislator Waldemar Serron (Perú Libre) has announced that its bench will support the censorship of Dimitri Senmache for “allowing” former minister Juan Silva’s escape, although he clarified that this decision is not in line with any alliance. He also questioned the lack of a plan to deal with the insecurity of citizens.

However, his colleague on the bench Alex Flores criticized the vote of no confidence in the Minister of the Interior and asked to be tried for his actions. He specified that this attempt at censorship was part of a coup plot.

Jorge Montoya (People’s Update) indicated that the Minister of the Interior allowed Juan Silva, Bruno Pacheco and President Pedro Castillo’s nephews to remain on the run. In addition, he doubted that the former Minister of Transport and Communications was not being followed.

Robert Chiabra (Alliance for Progress) indicated that the Minister of the Interior had made changes to the Peruvian National Police which affected the stability of said institution. He considered this decision a mistake that Minister Dimitri Senmache should accept.

Bye, Alexander Aginaga (People’s Force) criticized the leadership of the Minister of the Interior and said that he did not have the will to secure the capture of Juan Silva, Bruno Pacheco or the nephews of President Pedro Castillo. He denied that this censorship was not for the purpose of a coup d’état and instead accused the government of covering up former officials involved in corrupt practices.

Vote of no confidence

A vote of no confidence indicates that the leadership Dmitry Senmashe (May 23, 2022), “results only in the flight of high-ranking figures involved in corruption”, as well as in death, disappearance and social chaos, for which, it is indicated, “one cannot be held who he does not have the potential for.”

He confirmed that he would continue to work “with his head held high” and stated that he had never defended “a single person who seeks to escape from the hands of justice.”

With this new censorship, Dmitry Senmashe became the fourth minister to be censored by Congress so far in the government of Pedro Castillo: Carlos Gallardo (Minedu), Hernán Condori (Minsa) and Betsy Chavez (Work). In addition, he will become the fifth interior minister to leave office since the new administration came to power on July 28, 2021.
