Representatives of trade unions of heavy haulage companies indicated that an agreement had not yet been reached with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTS), and said they would not suspend the indefinite strike planned for June 27.
Following the conclusion of a meeting between the carriers union and the executive, Javier Marchese, president of the National Union of Heavy Transporters (UNT), gave the government a deadline this Sunday to issue a decree with its demands.
“We have indicated to the minister that if he does not bring us an emergency decree or a decree-law or an emergency, we are not going to suspend the strike or something like that,” he said.
Abraham Milla, another spokesman for the carriers’ union, argued that there was still no consensus on the five items on the list of claims.
“We agree that in order to participate in Council of Ministers at the meeting they are going to hold from the senior managers. So far, nothing has been finalized, we are waiting for the completion of five points and reaching a consensus, but the strike continues,” he said.
