This Monday, June 27th, Control Commission The Congress will go to the Government Palace to interrogate the President Peter’s castle for alleged misconduct committed during his reign, including the Sarratea case.
What to expect from this presentation, will it be public or closed, will Castillo answer all questions, will there be clashes with the opposition? AT Rotary Airpolitical scientist Macarena Costaportal 50+1analyzed the consequences that this interrogation can cause.
The analyst considered that, most likely, the meeting will be held behind closed doors, despite what the head of the department said. Control CommissionFujimori Hector Venturawho announced that the interrogation would be public.
“We saw that all meetings of the Oversight Commission this year were broadcast, even when the commission came to watch Zamir Villaverde to a fine. (…) But it would be bold of him (by Castillo) to distribute (the session), it would be a risky move,” he commented.
“The commission is going to interrogate the president in government palacewhich is very important, because Castillo invites the parliament to his territory, but he does not go to the territory of the parliament,” he added, believing that eventually the content of the interrogation would be published in the media.
Answer the questions?
Macarena Costa believed that Pedro Castillo would answer the legislators’ questions, although, according to him, “his answers will be in the sense of” I don’t know anything, “I didn’t do anything.”
“It is possible that the president is using this occasion to convey this message that he has been trying to use lately, which tends to say that he is responding to investigations, that he is showing his face. He did the same last week with his visit to the prosecutor’s office,” he said.
In this regard, the analyst pointed out that it is “very likely” that the President is trained in his legal team to “not get into conflict.”
“There is a real fear of investigations and, on the other hand, a fear to speak out, a fear that he himself will fall into a contradiction, which, as we know, he did before, and this can easily be repeated,” he said.
“Therefore, it is very possible that his lawyers are preparing and training him so that he tries not to do this. (…) But there is always the possibility that Castillo will go into controversy or make a political mistake during interrogation, ”he added.
Per Macarena CostaMonday’s meeting “will not be quiet” given that Pedro Castillo will face a commission chaired by the opposition. “It will be an autopsy session. (…) He is going to testify before the Congress, which has actually declared war. He paints him as his enemy,” he remarked.
