Republican Congressional National Defense Commission President Williams Zapata announced this Wednesday that Law 31494 will be amended to recognize self-defense committees and rural development and include them in the security system of citizens in order to avoid possible risks to national security.
The statement notes that Congress of the Republic approved the aforementioned law in recognition of the valuable participation self-defense committeesin the fight against terrorism for over 30 years in achieving peace.
“The National Defense Commission will submit appropriate legislative amendments to avoid interpretation of possible risks to national security and give peace of mind to citizens and members self-defense committees.
