The judiciary accepted the appeal of the leader of Fuerza Popular, Keiko Fujimoriso that their departure from the country is authorized to participate in a scientific event, which will be held from 20 to 25 May in Madridin Spain.
Judge Victor Zuniga Urdai took this action, finding that the appeal filed by the former presidential candidate through her defense met the statutory prerequisites for review by a higher authority.
Keiko Fujimori appealed against the resolution handed down on 23 March by the said judge, in which he declared his request unfounded to be absent from Lima from 20 to 25 May to attend an invitation extended to him by the World Legal Foundation to attend the aforementioned academic event to be held in the Spanish capital.
“Accept for processing”
With this in mind, Judge Suniga Urdai ruled to “grant” and “accept” the appeal of the leader of Fuerza Popular and refer the said appeal to the Second National Court of Criminal Appeals for its assessment at a hearing to be scheduled with the parties involved making the final decision on the matter. .
The justice of the peace denied the application for a travel permit from Keiko Fujimori in connection with the prosecutor’s charge of more than 30 years in prison, which weighs on him in the case of contributions to his 2011 and 2016 presidential campaigns.
In addition, the judge noted that compliance with the rules of conduct that had been established for him under his mandate to appear with restrictions did not mean, among other things, that the said measure should be more flexible.
