Gainer Alvarado, former housing minister and one of the closest to the former president Pedro Castillo, was transferred this Monday to the INPE prison in Ancón II prison, where a place will be determined where he must serve 36 months of pre-trial detention imposed by the judiciary. This is after changing the measure to the appearance with restrictions.
On March 9, Judge Juan Carlos Chekli Soria granted a 36-month pre-trial detention motion filed by prosecutors against former President Pedro Castillo and former Transport and Communications Minister Juan Silva. However, the measure was not the same for Alvarado, given that he had demonstrated acceptable behavior during the trial. The Ministry of Public Opinion appealed this decision and sent the former minister to jail.
According to the tax audit, the former owner of housing and communal services was one of the operators Pedro Castillo and was responsible for managing the projects of millionaires from the sector he led.
Humberto Abanto, lawyer Gainer Alvarado, questioned the arrest of his patron in La Moline last Friday. According to him, the police officers did not have a court order when they intervened in the case of the former official.
“At the time of Gainer Alvarado’s intervention, the facts showed that the police did not have a writ of injunction in the form in which it is described in the Constitution. What they did was take a man, arrest him without a court order and set him up without legal grounds,” he criticized.

Real protection of rights
Humberto Abanto announced that he would present custody of rights in favor of Geiner Alvarado, reiterating that his sponsor was violated during his intervention in the La Molina area.
“We are going to raise the guardianship of the Chief Preliminary Judge so that the type of procedures that are being developed here are made clear to the country, to Mr. Alvarado’s family and to the national justice system,” he said.
The lawyer announced that the first action the defense would take was to submit a defense of rights, and then habeas corpus, to cancel the pre-trial detention against Geiner Alvarado.
