Parliamentarian Edwin Martinez (People’s Action) was the protagonist of the Tuesday brawl following his resignation from the Arequipa Regional Council., where he went to attend a seminar on health and transport. The man threw an egg at him and tried to physically attack him, which caused a reaction from the parliamentarian.

The video, which was published on social networks, shows how the legislator reacts to the attacker, who was brought together by a police officer. The parliamentarian, having removed the object, quickly gets into the car and leaves with a broken pole.

The parliamentarian is responsible

Edwin Martinez told RPP News that his colleague Diana Gonzalez she was also attacked by eggs and insulted by some protesters in Arequipa.

“The man throws a bottle at me and then he is going to attack me. So, after the physical aggression of the man, I only did what I defended myself so that something would not fall on me. At this point, the subject falls to the ground and someone pulls me to get into a car that belonged to Congresswoman Maria Aguero, who made me get into her car and we drove away. That’s what happened,” he explained.

The People’s Action MP confirmed that the assailant has been identified and that there are more videos to denounce what he went through. In addition, he claimed that he had also been attacked in Mahues.

“Before becoming a politician, I am a man, and most of all I loved my mother. And it is not good that they offend in this way. It’s already tiresome. If I had the opportunity to leave Congress, I would do it, because, unfortunately, they were merciless towards Parliament,” he said.
