Congressional President Jose Williams said on Thursday that ethics commission will take action “with certainty” on the congressman’s case Jose Balcazar from Peru, Bicentenario, who was allegedly caught drinking alcohol while traveling to the Lambayeque region for a week of performance.
In press statements, the head Board of Directors consulted on a local media footage showing the MP with another person drinking beer. However, Williams said he did not see the tape, but said that the MP in question would have to answer and the Ethics Commission would review the case.
“I didn’t see it. I couldn’t give you the information because I didn’t see it, but of course you will have to make a statement and the Ethics Commission will definitely take action,” MP Avanza País said.
Executive week trip
Peruvian congressman Bicentenario José Balcazar was caught by local media allegedly drinking alcohol on the street in the Illimo district, Lambayeque region, while on a trip as part of Parliamentary Representation Week.
On the recording, the legislator is with a man who has a glass of beer, and next to them is a table with a bottle of this liquor and an empty glass.
The parliamentarian does not have a glass in his hands, and when he was consulted by a reporter for the local media outlet Radio B, he could only say that he drank soda.
Henry Rebase case
This incident occurred after last Monday, Henry Rebaza, then Deputy Minister of Public Goods of the Ministry of Health, was ejected by a group of protesters from a restaurant in Ayacucho where he was drinking alcohol. Faced with this situation, said portfolios launched an investigation and terminated their powers the day before.
In this regard, statements RPP newsRebaza said he did not drink alcohol at said establishment and that the bottle seen in the video was served by Ayacucho regional government officials. However, he later said that he made the toast during a meal eaten indoors.
“I only made a toast as a courtesy gesture, because finally, how is life, right? They asked me to toast the minister from Ayacucho (…), because finally they said: our minister, she is from Ayacucho, and because they are doing a good job, and I was not going to refuse them,” he said.
