According to him, this restructuring is a response to little progress that river and stream management projects were supposed to prevent the devastating effects of natural disasters.

“ARCC has two functions: to build and rebuild (…) In terms of reconstruction, we have schools, medical centers, paths, sidewalks. The construction part was focused on the management of rivers, streams and plateaus (…) With great surprise, I found that, unfortunately, these works, which were the focus of the problem in 2017, were handled very little or almost nothing for 6 years”, he pointed out.

“When I took office, I wondered why the work for which the permit had been issued had not been started. ARCC”, he added.

In accordance with Cornejo Valdivia who took over as president ARCC As of January 11, there is steady progress in infrastructure reconstruction, but almost nothing in “prevention work” such as “river reinforcement and retaining dams.”

“What we are doing at the moment, because this is work that is being worked on in the mode of intergovernmental relations, we are currently coordinating with the technical team British embassy (…) and with the mayors who are in the area. We are accelerating administrative and bureaucratic processes,” he added.

Cornejo Valdivia He pointed out that two “big intervention” projects are being implemented in Lima, targeting the Rimac and Huaycoloro rivers.

“In Lima, we have two major events aimed at the management of rivers and streams. We have the management of the Rimak River and the management Huycoloro River. As for the latter, we have about S/348 million of investments; for him Rimac We have about S/1.650 million investment,” he said.

“Because these are works that are the product of master plans, because you have to manage from the height of the ravines to the sea, these are works that require billions of salts. We are going to start working on high-impact works, that is, these big plans are broken down into sections, and we are starting in sections where we will have a big impact on this prevention, ”he added.
