The plenum of Congress refused to allow the discussion of a vote of no confidence in the Legislative Board of Directors. With 31 votes in favour, 59 against and 3 abstentions, the parliamentary representation decided to reject the measure of condemnation of deputies José Williams, Marta Moyano and Alejandro Munante.
The initiative, presented by a group of left-wing parliamentarians, was named among the reasons for censuring the Board of Directors.inadequate direction of the debate in serious violation of the Standing Orders of the Congress of the Republic”. In addition, they clarified that they had incited violence by issuing a statement calling on law enforcement to take action to contain the protests.
Earlier, the Speaker of Parliament, José Williams, admitted guilt and admitted that some mistakes were made during his parliamentary rule.
“I think that the work that congressmen are doing, with the exception of some mistakes that we had, is good. I see that they use all the time according to their ideology, their temperament. I think we need to improve”He said at a press conference.
“If there are things that need to be fixed, they should be done”
After the vote congressional presidentJose Williams thanked the parliamentarians who supported his retention as head Board of Directors. In addition, he specified that what was needed should be amended in favor of the Legislative Assembly.
“I really want to thank everyone. First, to those who did not join the vote of no confidence, thank you very much for your trust. I will keep things in the order they should be. And also (thank you) to those who voted no, because there are definitely lessons to be learned from everything. And I’m old enough not to study and listen to what they say,” he said.
“If there are things that need to be fixed, they should be done. But for the good of Congress. I think Congress is the most important thing, it’s where we live, we represent the population, and we have to make it shine and make it work. Thanks again to the bench for supporting me,” he concluded.
