Director General of the Congress Administration, Pablo Noriegavacated his position after Senior Member of Parliament José Sevasco resigned following controversy caused by journalistic denunciations about excessive spending on the purchase of carpets, LED screens and paying for an exclusive establishment.
Added to these costs is the purchase of 68 international air tickets in mid-December 2022 from a travel agency at the time C/312 819according to the newspaper on Thursday Trade.
During the press conference, Noriega commented that he had told the President of Parliament, Joseph Williamsthat his position is available if any of his functions are not performed “correctly”.
‘My position, I am also able to make available. Trusted persons should be ready for this. I talked to the president and told him that if at some point some of my actions, my duties, my functions are performed incorrectly, my position is available,” he told the media.
Noriega also announced that, as a result of the controversy that arose, a modernization of the administrative part of the parliament was ordered. “It is important and useful to control everything that is public spending,” he concluded.
Jose Sevasco Resigns as Mayor of Congress
Chief congressional official Jose Chevasco, today, Thursday, he resigned after publishing various journalistic accounts of alleged excessive spending on goods and services in Parliament.
At a press conference, accompanied by the director of the Legislative Administrative Office, Pablo NoriegaChevasco Piedra indicated that his resignation was due to “reasons political character” and are not associated with “administrative” events.
“On the journalistic events of recent days, (…) my resignation from office, mainly for political reasons. In no case are they related to events of an administrative nature. with the resolution of the various presidents of Congress delegating administrative powers to the various general administrative offices that Congress had,” he said.
