The Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced today, Saturday, that it will make a declaration emergency medical care in 13 regions and 59 districts across the country, given the significant increase in dengue morbidity and mortality.
According to the ministry, the measure includes an action plan responsible for Department of Prevention and Control of Metaxenic Diseases and Zoonosesas well as materials of the Dengue Technical Committee Minsa.
Regions in health emergency
The health emergency includes the regions of Amazonas, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huanuco, Ica, Junin, Lambaeque, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Piura, San Martin And Ukayaliaffected by the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is the vector of the disease.
Among the main urgent measures to be taken in these jurisdictions are the strengthening of primary health care services and hospitals, epidemiological surveillance and prevention and health promotion activities involving the community, authorities and strategic allies.
In this sense Minsa reported that 24 Clinical Surveillance Units (Uviklin) and 14 Fever Care Executive Units (UF) will be established in health facilities and hospitals to ensure the care and recovery of affected patients.
Larval control (destruction of mosquito eggs and larvae) and fumigation (destruction of adult mosquitoes) will also be carried out in homes in 59 districts, as well as entomological surveillance and strengthening of laboratories for molecular diagnostic tests for dengue fever.
In addition, municipalities and public committees will be encouraged to participate in organizing campaigns to collect and destroy mosquito breeding sites such as tires, bottles, plastic containers or other objects where rainwater accumulates, as well as in developing mass communication campaigns in the regions to disseminate information on measures to prevent and control dengue fever.

The country has recorded 11,585 cases of dengue and 16 deaths this year, according to the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Control of Diseases (CDC Peru).
In 2022, 6741 cases were reported on the same date, which means a significant increase.
Most affected regions Ukayali (2146 cases), Loreto (2027), Mother of God (1284), piura (1232) and San Martin (1077).
