Terrorism expert Pedro Yaranga noted this Sunday that “historically” terrorism has not yet been defeated either at the military level in the country or at the “political and social” level, commenting on the ambush of police officers in the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro River Valley (VRAEM ).
In an interview with Air Rotary, Pedro Yaranga it turned out that most of the population does not know that in lie An armed wing of the remnants of Sendero Luminoso, called the “Paramilitary Communist Party of Peru”, is active, while another group operates in cities under the label Movadef in various denominations.
“Historically, we have not yet won at the military level, and even more so at the political and social level, the fight against terrorism. back that this is just a group of drug terrorists, and some even say that they are hitmen in the drug trade. We have completely forgotten, we have moved away from reality, when terrorism has been going on for more than 40 years,” he said.
Pedro Yaranga He explained that the “bloody attack” in Natividad, a city in the Picari district, in the Cusco La Convention province, was a “classic ambush” involving very experienced people and important commanders.
“Attack, containment and auction, and this happened in the case of Natividad. The auction ensures everyone is dead, fortunately whoever was inside the truck did not suffer the same fate as the survivor, but in other cases of total massacre and then the destruction of their property, supplies and weapons. It happens from time to time,” he said.
Lack of intelligence work
For Pedro Yaranga These remnants of terrorists have political goals, especially in the context of protests and when part of the population tries to “hit the police.”
In other words, they say: if you couldn’t destroy in the cities, you couldn’t kill more policemen, we are present, and this is the proof. Therefore, we are with you. the tasks left by Abimael Guzmán are to be present in all protests, whatever the purpose of the protests, not to lead, not to direct, but to distort the protest,” he explained.
Except, Pedro Yaranga He argued that in the last 15 years there had been no “clear political decision” to end the remnants of terrorism in the country, and deplored the “dismantling of the intelligence apparatus” under Pedro Castillo’s rule.
“And a good operation is impossible without an intelligence apparatus (…) Are there opportunities and probabilities to restore everything that is missing? A political decision,” he said.
