President of the Republic Dina Boluarterejected the sector’s “violence and radicalism” during anti-government demonstrations that he believes are heading “from a place on Dirois”, in a clear allusion to the former president Pedro Castillowho is being held in this detention centre.
“The violence, radicalism and polarization directed from Dirois will not make us lower our heads or morale. Here we are firmly defending democracy, defending the stability of the country, protecting private investment with the support of the government,” he said during an event in Piura.
The head of state reiterated her call to “all sectors” to put aside differences and “focus on working together.”
“It is impossible to accelerate development without closing historical health gaps that have not yet been addressed. (…) We cannot work alone, we need the participation of all sectors,” he commented.
“In that sense, I want to encourage all sectors to put our differences aside and focus on working together for the time being. Peruvian men and women are asking for an end to confrontation and polarization once and for all. Time to think about Peru. We cannot plunge the country into uncertainty and anxiety,” he added.

The President made such statements at the opening of the expansion and strengthening of the breakwater pier of the port terminal pitaV piurawhere he ends his working day.
“Our Government has a strong commitment to social peace. I thank the private sector for betting and I continue to bet on this investment and additional work,” he said in his message.
After this event, the President plans to make a technical visit to Talar Oil Refinerylocated in the same region in the north of the country.
