Housing Minister, Chania Perez de Cuellar, In the protocol activities of his ministerial portfolio, he spoke about the feelings of the population in the current situation of the socio-political conflict that the country is experiencing. In this regard, he indicated that Peru was undergoing “moments of sadness”
“(Peruvians) experience moments of sadness because their relative died in these riots or they have a sick or hospitalized relative, not only from civil society, but also from the police. We are going through difficult times, but as the president and the prime minister told us, we can’t stop”he pointed out.
In this sense, he pointed out that Government “listens” to the social demands of the population and supports the right to “peaceful protest”.
“Right to protest peace exists. We accept it. The demands were heard and that is why we are here today,” he said.
Guaranteed drinking water in Puerto Maldonado
On the other hand, the Minister referred to the coordination of air transport organized by her sector, which allowed the delivery of resources to provide drinking water in the public water supply. Puerto Maldonado.
“Yesterday we delivered 12 tons of chemicals. Yesterday we made a confirmation, it is already in the hands of ETS, and it will work with its own mechanism and its own process,” he said.
It should be remembered that the regional governor of Madre de Dios, Louis Otsuka Salazarwarned last Thursday that the necessary supplies for the purification of drinking water in the aforementioned province could not be delivered from Lima because of the blockade of roads by demonstrators.
However, the Minister of Housing has indicated that once the items are delivered, drinking water is guaranteed for the next 20 days.
“With such a delivery and with all regular procedures, access to drinking water can be guaranteed for both the population of Puerto Maldonado and El Triunfo for about 20 days,” he stressed.
“Aluminum sulfate has been transported, but the rest of the products are not by air, but by land. We are working on mechanisms to meet the demand at the expense of local suppliers,” he added.
