Dina Boluarte calls for peace and unity before protests resume in the south of the country

The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, urged peace and Unit ism all Peruvians in front of him restart shutdowns and protests in different parts of the country, especially in the south, and also confirmed that there would be no impunity when deaths what happened during the December 2022 mobilization.

“To get the message across to the entire Peruvian population in the south, who are on the net, that the protest marches start today. We know by the Constitution that marches are allowed as long as they are peaceful, so I want to reach out to the brothers to talk to them about the importance of peace and unity and the commitment that we all must have for the benefit of our families and the great family that is Peru.” he said. In this sense dignitary stressed that the vast majority Peruvians protest when they see that their demands are not met, but there is minority associated with “drug trafficking” and “illegal mining”, as well as persons who have served their sentences for terrorism, inciting violence in mobilizations.

“Not all of the people who participate in these mobilizations are the ones who generate violence, it is a smaller group that generates violence and they come from the VRAEM zone. We saw them mobilize in Hilux vans to drive into Cusco from various locations to start fires, take over airports, block roads,” he asked.

The government wants to know the truth

Boluarte Zegarra he also said that he Government seeks to uncover the truth about more than 20 deaths during the social upheaval that occurred between the second and third week of December. So he asked quick investigation and that responsibilities are individualized.

“I assure you there will be no impunity, we gave all our support Inter-American Commission on Human Rights because we ask them to come themselves and see what happened in the country, we also invite the High Commissioner of this commission to come in January, therefore, we give all the conditions,” he said.

Similar representative emphasized that yesterday, on Tuesday, January 3, a Multisectoral Commission was established to monitor actions and measures aimed at caring for the relatives of people who died in demonstrations.
