His Highness held a one-day meeting with Professor Gurch Randhawa, a member of the Sikh congregation at the Gurdwara.
King Charles III of Great Britain visited the Sikh temple recently built by Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Luton. The Daily Mail reported this.
The monarch took off his shoes and covered his head with a gray and white checkered turban as a sign of humility and respect.
In addition, during a meeting with volunteers, the king made the traditional namaste gesture, which he often uses as a greeting during the pandemic instead of a handshake.
In the temple’s prayer hall, Charles III wore a traditional meditation shawl around his neck.
His Highness met Professor Gurch Randhawa, Member of the Sikh Congregation at the Gurdwara, Deputy Lieutenant and Director of the Institute for Medical Research at the University of Bedfordshire.
He also spoke to volunteers who run a Sikh school, and students studying Punjabi and traditional music.
