Together with her husband, 44-year-old actor Ashton Kutcher, they managed to raise more than $37 million for Ukraine.
The famous Hollywood actress Mila Kunis, who comes from the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi, spoke about how she decided to raise money to help her home country in connection with the Russian war. He shared the details in an interview with People.
“Helping – not even asking, just doing – should be our standard. I often see people who talk a lot but do little. This is one of the first times I talk about charity, because in this case there is no other way to achieve results. When we saw that Putin was chasing the whole country, we knew that a big crisis was coming soon,” said the actress.
Kunis also admitted if she talks to her kids about the war at home.
“Our daughter Wyatt is 8 years old and our son Dimitri is almost 6. A child’s brain, no matter how beautiful and rich it is, cannot digest that much information at once- at the same time. So we give them enough information to understand what’s going on in the world, but no details. Do they know these two countries are fighting? Yes. Do they know innocent people are dying? Yes. But we don’t watch the news with them. They don’t need visuals. We just want them to understand. that the world is bigger than them,” the actress added.
The star admitted that he speaks Russian with his parents.
“My parents and I speak Russian to each other, so our children grew up here. Naturally they are proud that they are half Ukrainian. The truth is that I am a typical American. I grew up in Los Angeles. However, I have never been so proud that I am from Ukraine. I am so proud that my children can continue this legacy,” shared the actress.
