The first film will be produced in collaboration with Skydance Sports, Mandalay Pictures and Amazon Studios in 2023.
Hollywood actors and childhood friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have announced their intention to start an independent production company called Artists Equity. The New York Times writes about it, citing a statement from the artists.
The stars plan to raise at least $100 million in funding from investment firm RedBird Capital Partners.
“This is the next act of my career for a long time,” Affleck said.
It is also known that Damon has promised to star in a certain number of films that will soon enter production, and to do projects exclusively for the future company.
Affleck will be the company’s chief executive officer, while Damon will be the chief creative officer.
The stars said they would pay reduced advances to actors, directors and other employees, but if the films were successful, the employees would be entitled to higher payments.
According to the plan, Artists Equity plans to release three projects in 2023.
We will remind, Affleck previously said that shooting Zack Snyder’s Justice League was his “worst experience” in the film.
