Mark Chapman said he knew it was wrong to kill a musician, but he was looking for glory and had “evil” in his heart.
The man who shot British rock musician John Lennon has been denied parole 12 times. Sky News reported this.
Mark Chapman noted that his decision to kill Lennon was conscious because he wanted fame.
“I know what I’m doing, and I know it’s bad. I know it’s wrong, but I want fame that I’m ready to give everything and take a human life,” he said.
Chapman’s next appearance before the parole board is scheduled for February 2024.
It is worth remembering that the man killed the founder and member of The Beatles John Lennon on the night of December 8, 1980, when he and Yoko Ono returned to their apartment on the Upper West Side. Earlier that day, Lennon had autographed a copy of his newly released Double Fantasy album for Chapman.
It was previously reported that a New York jury acquitted Hollywood star Kevin Spacey of sexual assault.
